Hi, my name is Miguel and I’m from Mexico and I’m an exchange student for one year in Poland .
I’ve been one month in Poland, and since I arrived I have experienced a lot of things, from birthdays to weddings and the first day of school, but I will start from the beginning. When I arrived to Poland on August 21, the first thing that I did was to go to the place where the other exchange students were staying. Then the next day I met a few Polish guys, I was surprised because I never thought that the language was going to be really complicated, when the guys were talking in Polish everything I heard was a lot of szcscszcsc. At the beginning it sounded like a lot of bees but with time I started to identified more sounds and letters. After that we went to Kraków to the main square and I was surprised because it is totally different from my city, the streets here are really colorful and full of people. There in Kraków I was able to try some Polish food like pierogi and żurek. When it comes to school it was totally unexpected because here in Poland everybody wears suit and is really elegant on the first day of school and for me it was a really nice detail because in Mexico the first day is like every other day, so for me this is really classy. At the beginning it was a little bit hard to communicate with people because of the language and the people here are more reserved when they don’t know a person very well, but with time I began to be more open and I tried to talk more with the guys of my class and they also began to talk more and more and now I think that I have really nice friends at school in Miechów. Other important thing is the weather – during the first weeks it was really nice because it was warm and not different from the weather in Mexico but right now it’s really cold when I’m on the streets I am freezing and the people in Poland look really normal like if it was a good day with a good weather. But hopefully I will get used to this weather.
I still have 8 months to spend in Poland and I think they are going to be really good months because the time that I’ve been here it has been really great. These are my first months in Poland so I don’t have thousands of stories to tell but, if everything goes right, I can write more about my experiences in this beautiful country.
